About MMLAB
MMLAB (Arts and Science Lab, Meno ir mokslo laboratorija) is a professional theatre based in Vilnius, Lithuania. It was launched with creative projects where artists and scientists experimented together with new forms and subjects for the theatre works. The key MMLAB strategy is experimentation with artistic forms and subjects. In 2019 MMLAB gained professional theatre status by Lithuanian ministry of Culture. In 2019 by decision of Vilnius Municipality MMLAB became Vilnius City Theatre.
Now MMLAB is presenting emerging and established young artists, collaborating with the National and state institutions, having strong international relations with European countries and partners around the world – from Japan to Pakistan.
Each MMLAB project involves an increasingly larger number of artists, organisation has gained recognition among critics and audiences. Creators are also experimenting by creating installations in unconventional spaces, such as underground passages or old kindergarten.

2018 Director Paulius Markevičius was awarded by Best young artist prize of Lithuanian ministry of culture
2019 MMLAB (dir. Paulius Markevičius) became winners of annual Dalia Tamulevičiūtė Lithuanian dramaturgy contest
2019 MMLAB was granted the name of Vilnius city theatre from the Vilnius Municipality
2020 Light artist Julius Kuršis was awarded by Best young artist prize of Lithuanian ministry of culture
2021 Awards by Lithuanian Academy for science for the best science popularisation projects “Brilijant advenčers” and “MMLAB space”
2021 Award for best educational activities from Lithuanian ministry of culture.
2023 Nomination for the B.Dauguvietis award for the innovative activities in MMLAB open space
2023 Awards by Lithuanian Academy for science for the best science popularisation projects “Vegetative space” and “Young astronomers camp”
2023 director Gediminas Rimeika was nominated for the Golden Stage Cross for directing performance “Life is a dream”
2024 costume designer Sandra Straukaitė was awarded by the Golden Stage Cross for the costumes for performance “Life is a dream”
2024 producer Rusnė Kregždaitė was awarded by the Critics association award “Art key”
2024 MMLAB (dir. Naubertas Jasinskas) became winners of annual Dalia Tamulevičiūtė Lithuanian dramaturgy contest
